Will a 6670 be "good enough"?

I have an old hp that im going to try and upgrade so that its able to play games fairly well and was looking at a powercolor 6670 as the card I will use as its low power use and single slot. Will it be able to run games well enough?

Solution
The Radeon HD 6670 with DDR3 has about 74% the performance of the DDR5 version. That more or less puts the Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 halfway between the Radeon HD 5570 and Radeon HD 5670.

The Radeon HD 7750 DDR5 is basically equal to the Radeon HD 5770 / HD 6770 which is about 40% more powerful than the Radeon HD 6670 DDR5.

I highly recommend the following XFX Readeon HD 7750 which is currently on sale for $65 after a $25 rebate. Going from a Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 to a Radeon HD 7750 DDR5 is more than 2x the perform.

You can either save money and be disappointed with the Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 purchase, and likely buyer's remorse. Or you can spend a little more money to get a card...
I had a 6670 about a year ago. Did fairly well on about medium depending on game. Though if you are looking for something current gen a 7750 uses about the same amount of (electrical)power while a having almost the same performance as a 6770.

Hope that helps and I agree with what smeeze said.

i have an asus 1gb ddr3 card in my sig rig, and its good enough.....just, plays crysis 3 @25-30 fps metro at 30 im on a 1440x900 monitor btw, so if you are using a full hd monitor, that may push it a little to hard.....i stand to be corrected though

The stupidest part is, The GDDR5 HD6670 models are the same price as the DDR3 HD7750. You're then left to choose between the DDR5 HD6670 and the DDR3 HD7750. Screw them both im going with the HD7770 (I'm not OP)

This is not 100% related but I DO have another rig so its not SUPER important this card is like "baller as possible" BUT is that xfx card rly 2x the performance of the one I linked? and does it need a 6 pin because that is a big no no in this case.......

The Radeon HD 6670 DDR 3 has 74% of the performance of the Radeon HD 6670 DDR5. The Radeon HD 7750 / HD 6770 / HD 5770 all have the same performance and is on average 40% faster than the Radeon HD 6670 DDR5.

Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 = 74%
Radeon HD 6670 DDR5 = 100%
Radeon HD 7750 DDR5 = 140%

Another way to look at it:
Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 = 74 FPS
Radeon HD 6670 DDR5 = 100 FPS
Radeon HD 7750 DDR5 = 140 FPS

So in the long run it will probably be better if i got that 7750 over the 6670 so it will remain workable longer? Retarded question but can the 7750 do crossfire? Because that would be a nice option if it can.

Ooo, that is interesting. I can honestly say I don't know which is faster, I will retract from that topic due to lack of knowledge :p.

Ahm, it can but it wouldn't be worth it and I can tell you that I don't really recommend it. Not only is framerating an issue but generally Xfiring/Sli'ing low end cards just isn't worth it. By the time you want to upgrade either the next set of GPUs have came out or 2 7750s just won't bea good cost/performance ratio.

How would you define "good enough"? Which games will you be playing? How important is eye-candy to you? What is the native resolution of your monitor?

Depending on your answer, you could purchase a $100 dollar card that may very well last you a year or two. Most will agree 30 fps is the bare minimum for playability and enjoyment. If you agree, lower graphical settings and resolution will give you good mileage. This is all assuming you have a processor to drive the card.

So knowing that I had another rig would you guys still say go with the 7750 because its better or go with the 6770 because of the other rig and the whole extra cost of the 7750 not rly being worth it in that respect?

I'd just grab a 7750. The 6770 uses more power and requires a 6pin connector. On amazon (in US) the 7750 is cheaper than the 6770.

+ They offer the exact same performance with the HD7750 being a newer and more power efficient architecture
