Razer Tiamat, excellent surround sound but bad sound quality
Mediocre Headsets:
Steelseries Siberia V2
Tritton Pro+ or 720+
Do you want a 5.1, 7.1 or stereo headset? If you want a 5.1 or 7.1 headset do you prefer digital or analog?

Don't buy a sound card, it's a waste of money. It doesn't matter if the headset is analog or usb, it more depends on the quality of the connecter, the quality of the speaker drivers and etc.
