Moral choice? (670 or 770 DirectCU)

I've bought all but the GPU for my 1st rig.

I'd originally planned to get the 670 DirectCU II +free metro (£300). Then heard that 760 is a new version of it, but later read that it going to be slower. So im now looking at the 770 DirectCU, but it seems to only seems to only come OCed which bumps up the price to £360, which is a little steep :s.

Shall i just go for the 770 OC version, or save £60 and get the 670 + free metro. Or is a non OC directcu 770 going to be released soon?

I've decided on Asus' DirectCU II since its meant to be one of the best quiet GPUs.

I guess should point to make is that im only using one 1920x1080 monitor, so would the 770 be overkill? Seems crysis 3 and upcoming games could start to strain the 670 :S

Any Advice?
Thanks

edit: also i have little interest in SLi or overclocking past stock.

GTX 770 FTW ! ! ! ....... is a beast , i had the same issue , i couldn't decide between the 670 and the 770 , but hey , it can´t be defeated by any game i've tested so far and it feels more "future proof" for me . I went for the Gigabyte edition tough , it runs a lot cooler than the DCU II . but at the end of the day , its your choice , im just letting you know my experience with this GPU , which i love . i have SLI in my future plans too !

Personally, I'd get the 770 to get that extra performance in there. In fact, I'm planning on purchasing that same Asus DirectCU2 OC.

The 770 outperforms the 670 in almost every way. The only thing the 670 has over the 770 is it's more efficient in terms of power consumption.

hummm very tempting lol. Though the link u posted highlights even the 670 might be overkill.
(670 GTX) - "In terms of gaming resolutions the card can easily handle all games at maximum settings at 1920x1200."

And with the metro game its more like £100 cheaper :s, Though i do like a good future proofing :)  lol

The game is a freebie. You shouldn't include it with the price when comparing. If you spend a few more bucks, or quid I guess you would say, then you could simply wait longer until your next upgrade. If it's overkill now, it most likely won't be when those next-gen games release for PC. Top-end cards are already struggling to pull off a decent framerate in Metro: Last Light on max settings.

I know lol, was looking at the Titan running crysis 3 at 5260x2560, down do like 13fps lol.

I guess the sweet spot would be to get the non OCed 770, though would only go for the Asus or Gigabyte versions as im keen on the quiet cooler. Is there a release date for these, or do they follow a release trend each series?

Should have pointed out that i live in the UK, so it would prob end up costing £400 for them :s.

Though, have been looking up the Gigabyte version. its priced in the middle at £330 and is on par with the DirectCU version (if not better).
Thanks for bringing that up, seems like the best buy. Think i will pick one up.

Just quick question (and sorry its a bit of a noob one :s).

Can a CX600M power the 770? I noticed that the pin requirement for the 770 is 2 more (1x6 + 1x8 PCI-E) than the 670 (2x6 PCI-E).

I only ask as the labels on the PSU are a bit confusing. The motherboard and CPU power cables are built in, but it also has 4 modular sockets:
under the 'Sata&peripherals' label, two 6pin
under the '6+2 pci-e & 4+4 CPU' label, it has one 6pin and one 8pin.

Does these mean the 8pin is for a second CPU? I read about the different voltages while back so am under the assumption i cant mix and match the sockets, though am about to use the latter two sockets.

I'm not too sure about the connectors, but a 600W power supply could easily handle the 770. I've seen a 550W hold a 780 and a 3770K and it was just fine.
