Cooler master haf x and the GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC Force LGA 1150 Intel Z87 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS doesn't fit this is a XL-ATX motherboard cooler masters web site even says it takes xl-atx mobos so whats up with this mobo? the back ports are uneven with the mobo and the video card can only get through on one of them

sounds like you installed the mb wrong.

or else you have the only HAF X that doesn't fit a xl-atx board.

its more likely you used the standoffs in the wrong mounting holes... i'm not sure. I don't have a picture to see what's wrong. but these things should come together pretty simply. i would pull all the "stuff" out of the case. all the drive bays, everything. Then i would match the mb up with the IO slot, and see which holes you're supposed to use for mounting. then make sure your spacers are in, and you mount the mb properly.

there were no other points to mount the mobo on the case and I know stand offs have to be used.

That's the problem they don't match up with the IO's that's exactly the term I was looking for
