2x7970 Crossfire Issue

I've recently got 2 7970s off ebay, £460, for the pair, I'm chuffed.

Anyway, I plugged one in to the top slot of my Asus Sabertooth 990FX board, and it works fine, no issues, so I put the other one in its place, and it too works fine, both cards are working individually.

Now, I put the second card in the third slot to allow space for air movement and removed the first card, works fine, slot OK. I put both cards in, no crossfire bridge, works but does not detect second card.

I attached the crossfire bridge.
Does not detect second card is even there.
I attached crossfire bridges to both connectors, still does not recognise the second card is even there, device manager does not pick it up, nor does catalyst, no option in catalyst to enable crossfire.

There's a switch on both cards next to the crossfire bridge connectors (2 positions, marked '1 and 2' I have tried it in various positions and just nada. No matter which way I try it, windows will not pick up that there are 2 cards connected.

Any ideas?
(I installed all the drives and shit)

Thanks =)

Did you wipe the drivers before installing both cards then reinstall once both cards are in the system? Swapping them in an out will allow them to work alone since they're the same card and if you already had the drivers it would pick them up, but when going from one card to two I've noticed with my setup (2x 7950's) that when going from one card to two you need to wipe and reinstall the drivers after the second card gets added.

Thanks mate, that was exactly it, boy do I feel like a tool - I thought it would be worth testing the cards individually first as I have no crossfire experience. Thanks again!
