I'm looking to buy a second hand rig that has good specs but comes with an intel i5 661 and I'm curious as to how it fairs for just playing games. Would it affect my performance on games such as Battlefield 3?

Edit: System specs:

ASUS P7P55-M Motherboard
Intel i5 661 3.33GHz Processor
8GB DDR3 Ram
XFX Radeon 7950 DD 3gb DDR5 Graphics Card
1TB HDD
Powercool 750w Power Supply

yeah it will be okay for gaming. Not a great gaming chip, because it has 2 cores (although it is multithreaded), however the multithreading has little or no effect in gaming. At 3.3ghz it's got good speed. However, saying that, it depends a lot o your other system components Amount of ram, and GFX more importantly.

edit. Yes, for BF3, 4 cores is almost essential, specially for online play.
