Please don't tell me to go read the specifications because I'm a total greenhorn in this subject and can't fully comprehend what is important.

Additional information: I won't be overclocking or using two graphic cards at the same time.

Solution
It's perfect for your needs, that model is very solid and excellent for the price. Just be sure that your CPU is on the CPU supported list and go ahead.
It's a pretty good motherboard. It uses the 970 chipset which cuts a few features compared to the 990X and 990FX chipsets, but that's mostly to do with using multiple graphics cards.

It has good VRMs, so it would actually be well suited for overclocking.

it is agood motherboard but falls when compared with the MSI-970A G46.
the msi g46 has two pci-e slots running at x8/x8 dual mode while the gigabyte one has two pci-e slots running at x16/x4 mode which is much slower and would significantly decrease performance while using multiple gpu's in SLI/Crossfire
