Hey, I'm looking for some benchmarks to see what's a faster card, I can get both the Asus HD 7970 DCII, the Gigabyte Super Overclocked GTX 680 and the Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce x3 for the same price, which is faster?
If you were to overclock the HD 7970, it is a very good card. Bundled with the AMD Never Settle Bundle, it is also a very good buy for the price. That said, at stock, the GTX 770 is faster and would be my recommendation.
Hmm, I'm not a big overclocker, I will do it a bit but not to the extreme, however the GTX cards have 2 GB of VRAM but the 7970 has 3 GB, would that ever be a problem? My monitor is only 1600x900 and I'm not planning on upgrading any time soon.
I'm thinking the Windforce X3 GTX 770 is the best way to go...
Depends on your overclock. As mentioned several times, a HD 7970 is better if you run it at high overclock. Otherwise at stock, GTX 770 wins hands down.

Maybe you're looking at different benchmarks to me, from what I can see there's 1-3 FPS in it either way.
If you mean the benchmarks in the first post in the thread that you linked to, then please know that the HD 7970 is not the same as the HD 7970 GHz. The HD 7970 GHz is slightly better than HD 7970. So the benchmarks that you are reading is not consistent with the cards that you are comparing in this thread.

According to techpowerup @ Battlefield 3:
It's a widely known fact that battlefield 3 favours nVidia a lot. If I'm not wrong isn't the GHz ed. just a stock OC 7970?
