Hi,

I'm looking for a graphics card from either nvidia or AMD. I've looked at the Asus Radeon 7770 and the EVGA GTX 650 (both 1GB). I don't know which - can you suggest one?

I am a semi gamer, doing simulations like Sim City and Cities in Motion. By the look of online ads and stuff though I may move into Black Ops and Crysis etc. My budget is about £100 but may be stretched to about £130.

Apart from advantages in multi-screen gaming, does the difference of 1 or 2 GB make much of a difference?

Sorry for all the questions but all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're looking to play games like Crysis, you should save up for a little while longer and get a 660ti, at least. With the 760 coming out shortly, they may get a price reduction.

What resolution will you be playing at? That's ultimately the biggest factor when considering the amount of RAM. 2GB is all you need up to 1080p (1920x1080). Lower resolutions even 1GB may be fine.

Black Ops should run fine with the two cards you mentioned. Crysis 3 (if you want the newest version) will kick butt though @ 1080p.

Here is a comparison of the GTX 650 Ti & 650 Ti Boost vs AMD 7770

EDIT: Keep in mind although the review site shows pretty lackluster performance by both the GTX 650 and 7770 with Crysis 3 that's @ 1080p with Very High graphic settings. Ultimately to be playable you'd have to use much lower graphic settings. Crysis (original) was a system buster. Crysis 2 was much more "refined" so to speak. Crysis 3 is back to it's "Can it play Crysis?" catch line....

I'd rather look at benchmarks. This site gives a rating number. For example, they say the 7770 is 6.8pts. The 650 Ti Boost is 7pts. Based on what??

Compare the 7970 vs GTX 770. They don't even give points. Just two pictures side by side. So... which is better?

I'd rather look at benchmark reviews with real life games and software.
