I have never built a computer and am sick of my present computer i want to build my own but i am a novice and would appreciate as much help as i can. I decided i want about 1tb HDD 8gb RAM a good video card and i5. Just wondering what you guys would set up for games like WOW, COD and Planetside 2 with this? i have had a look at a few case and think this is the one am going to pick. http://www.ebuyer.com/343262-cit-vantage-gaming-case-black-hd-audio-black-interior-4-fans-card-cscitvan how would you do it as i want WOW to run really smooth but also want to be used abit as a personal computer.

Thanks

I found 400 to be a pretty harsh limit. This is without OS. To drop the hardware costs alone below 400 you would have to downgrade to an i3, but I don't think that is worthwhile.

That all sounds good but i am trying to now find a case that will actually fit the ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard? have you got any suggestions that could point me in the right direction?

Thanks

The case selected in the build will work, it may not be ascetically pleasing to your tastes though.

I prefer rather plain windowless cases, and have become a fan of BitFenix lately. Cooler Master E-lite series is extremely cheap, though a little old fashioned. Given your budget, any box that will hold the parts should be good enough.

The CiT case you were interested in is also compatible.

Ok mate brilliant i only wondered as when i went on pc part picker it said....ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the CiT Vantage ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.

Shall i just ignore that then?

Also this is my slight edit to your approach as i thought i may as well throw abit more money at it :) http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Hussell/saved/1Q6t

Will i need the CPU cooler? Will i need a bigger power supply?and if there is anything you would change let me know :)

Thanks

i5-2320 is actually a sandy bridge processor, slightly older then the Ivy bridge series. Ivy being the latest that will fit in LGA1155.

i5-3570 would be the top of the quad cores, excluding i7. i5-3220 would be the equivalent 3rd gen chip to the one you selected.

iX-XXX 1st Gen, iX-2XXX 2nd Gen, iX-3XXX 3rd Gen, iX-4XXX 4th Gen

An aftermarket cpu cooler is never a bad idea, though the stock cooler that comes in the box is fine for non-overclocking chips.

If you really want your front panel USB to be 3.0 then you can try to find a case with a USB 3.0 header, but you will still have USB 3.0 out of the motherboard and the front ports should still be able to hooked up as 2.0.

Ok then would it be worth maybe getting the Intel Core i5-3470 for slightly more or is there another 3rd gen thats better? I wont be over clocking much but for under £10 cant go wrong :) I dont really need 3.0 i can live without them but aslong as there is one somewhere ill be happy :)

Will the Intel Core i5-3470 fit in the LGA1155?
