Zambezi is referred to ever-so affectionately as "Fail-Dozer" for good reason. If you must go with AMD for gaming, go with the newer Vishera processors.

Pshaw. And Haswell is referred to ever-so affectionately as "Has-fail".

The 6100 is fine.
because haswell failed to improve performance in desktops over ivy. the 6100 series is ok, but honestly with the 6300 literally at the same price, there is no reason to go with the 6100. hell the 6350 is only 15.00 more and it is far more powerful.
bottom line is the fx-6100 isn't the best option available. it is ok if you literally have no other choice. in most countries the 6300 should be at or close to the same price and it is a step up in performance

The difference between Haswell and Zambezi, is if I had upgraded my 1090t to a 6100, it would have been a downgrade. Haswell is an actual upgrade over ivy, although not much of one.
Also the 6300 is priced the same as the 6100 on newegg right now so it's a waste of money to get the older cpu (unless you can get a really good deal on it).
The FX-6100 will do well in gaming. About the same as a 965 BE.
The 6100 also does Turbo core @ 3.9 GHz when you set it in BIOS right.
More power efficient than a Phenom, newer instruction sets supported higher performance when multitasking. - Who doesn't want that? http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-965-vs-AMD-FX-6100
