Unfortunately games like Heavy Rain are pretty rare, which is a shame.
Usually in the indie games scene you will find games like Heavy Rain, and a typical attribute of indie games is not super realistic graphics.

Have a look at games like Dear Esther, Kentucky Route Zero and The Walking Dead (by Telltale games, not the other horrible one). They are fairly minimal in gameplay and heavy on character development and story.

What I miss are games on PC where you have to use your head -- solve the puzzles. Hitting a key over and over to massacre something? Please. Why don't they make something like "Phantasmagoria - Puzzle of Flesh"? Yes, it's old, but if it was remade today...WOW.

you could try broken sword or blade runner I heard those games are good but i never played it myself. ^ you might want to check out Aerena Clash of Champions its a turn based tactical game, pretty much like chess but more awesome lol.
