Monitor is giving the 'No Input' message'

I recently installed a new 650ti in my computer, when I first tried to boot my monitor kept giving me a 'No Input' message. The next day it started working fine and it has been for about a week, but then today I tried to turn my computer on and the monitor started doing the no input message again. Thinking that it was a bad dvi cord I replaced it with a new cord, but the monitor still is not detecting the GPU input.

As far as I can tell the card is working, at least the fans are running.

Could this be a problem with the monitor? Or will I have to replace my video card?

if you have plugged your HDMI into your TV as a lot of people do, in general it will use that as the primary. Even if you set your montior as primary in windows it will not show the bios/ boot messages, only switching the monitor on once it has actually booted into the OS.

just wait a few minutes and see if it works. Or unplug the HDMI...

Since all parts worked once, I doubt that you have a hardware problem.

Try attaching the monitor to the integrated adapter.
If you get output from the integrated adapter, reboot and tell the bios that the discrete adapter is primary.

If you get no output, it is likely that the monitor is not selecting the proper input.
Sometimes they auto detect, and other monitor need to have the input selected manually.

well then that is a bit worrying. If you just installed the card recently I would try simply re-seating it into the motherboard (remove it and click it in again). Make sure that you don't bend the metal mount when screwing it down. If you have to bend it it means the mobo is most likely slightly misaligned with the case. I have run a card that was badly matched with the case before, I just didn't screw it down.

I hope it is something simple like this. Are you 100% sure your internal speaker is plugged in and working (you normally get a beep on boot)? If not it could be something else preventing the system from booting like RAM, or it may be trying to tell you to re-seat the card itself.

Hope this helps.

I don't think my mobo has any internal speakers, I've never gotten any beeps during boot.

Also, I have had no success with the internal adapter, but if I swap out my new card with the old 7450 it will run.

It doesn't seem to be a problem with which input is selected, dvi is set as default and the monitor automatically switches if the only input is not from the default.

Another thing of note is that when I unplug the dvi cord from the video card it will display a 'Check Cable' notification on the screen, so it seems that the monitor is detecting the card to some extent.

My PSU is a 550W, if you're asking brand I don't think it'll be of use because it is just a local Chinese manufacturer, (is it possible that this PSU could just be bad and its not feeding enough power or something?).

^^ Exactly my thoughts. The 650ti pulls a lot more juice. Does your PSU have a single 12V rail? What is the quality like at the wall (do you get surges or brown outs ever)? Are you plugged into a heavily populated extension cord?

If possible plug your PC directly to the wall, and use an extension for all the low power stuff, like monitor/speakers etc.

Since your old 7450 works, I would suspect the video card is having a problem.
In theory, a GTX650ti needs only 430w, and a single 6pin pci-e power lead, it should be sufficient.
(You did plug in the 6 pin lead securely, I hope?)

oem or older power supplies can be of questionable quality, and may not deliver advertised wattage on the +12v leads which are needed by graphics cards. On the spec label of your psu, how many amps or volts does it say for the +12v rails?
I might expect 32a or 384 w at least for a decent psu.

I don't have any problems with surges and the like, nor do I have a crowded cable, its just the computer and the monitor on one extension cord.

I don't know about the rails, how woud I check that?
