I just bought a slightly used (enterprise) Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 (Intel® Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz × 2, Intel® Q35 , 32bit, Fedora Linux)
The system originally came with 1gb ram module installed. I have several 1gb modules left over from some older M55's I no longer have, so they are compatable. I went ahead and inserted three of these modules, filling up all slots. When I powered on the unit I got error code sequence of 8 beeps and no boot at all (fan was at max). I then removed these newly placed modules and powered on again with successfull boot. I later tried just installing two modules and got no error alarm, but still no boot. I then took out the orig module and replaced with one of the older modules (same exact kind as orig) and it booted up fine. (tried this with multiple mods and all seems well)
I am unsure what may cause this prob. Would anyone have an idea?
