I know this is an old subject but info and resources for this are changing all the time and there is so much old info out there I don't know where to turn.

I have an old Acer Aspire (no HD) that can boot from USB and I want to create a simple cut down version of XP booting from either a pendrive or SD card.
I have a specific use for it as a music jukebox because it has a S/PDIF output which will connect to my DAC and then into my Marantz Amplifier, and it will ONLY be running winamp or foobar and all music files will be fed over WI-FI from another PC.

Can someone please point me to the best and most recent resources to do this. Thanks all, Ward

Maybe this will work on your system?

P.S. Why do you want to use the SPDIF on an old notebook - the audio quality will be terrible! Just because it has SPDIF does not mean it will be high-quality audio because the cheap DtoA and then AtoD converters in laptops and PCs are pretty bad.
For good quality you need a decent sound card like the Xonar D1 - the difference in audio quality is amazing!

Hey Emerald, thanks heaps for that link a few months ago, I found it VERY useful but it no longer seems to exist. Do you know if it has moved, and if so, to where.
Cheers
