Generally slow win7 especially at startup

PC Toshiba Satelite m-115 S3094. 32 bit- 1.5g ram- Win7 Ultimate

Closed all start up programs- scanned disk, half full- various anti-virus checks- defraged- Mathsuita UJ814 dvd driver disappeared, unable find the firmware-

Whats next, fresh windows copy ??

It doesn't matter, those specs are so horribly underpowered I'm surprised it ever worked (1.5GB RAM WHAT????) Put some 4GB sticks in there for $20 and be done with it. It's 32bit, so you can't use more than that. Otherwise, no less than 8GB of course....No less, you hear me ;)

All it takes is a small problem, some service trying to start, little malware, etc and that 1.5 of RAM will fail horribly. Sure you might have been limping around with that before, but only by some kind of miracle. And certainly it was sloooow. That PC is way past time to replace it. You could buy something used on ebay for $125 that is 5x faster.
