Can my system run games such as Skyrim and newer games to be released at high or better?

Hi all,

I'm planning on upgrading my systems graphics card and sadly only the graphics card, as I lack money to purchase anything else. On my current system I've managed to play Skyrim, Max Payne 3 and The Witcher 2 at low to sometimes medium settings. Sure I've enjoyed playing my games but I really want to have them more easy on the eyes, prettier. once I purchase my new graphics card my system will have the following specs, how would the system fair with the aforementioned games and games soon to be released for that matter such as Assassins Creed III, Battlefield 4, and if it is released on PC: The Division. Thanks in advance for any answers my goal is to at least run them at high or if I'm lucky, very high. the specs are:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB OC
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
E8400 @ 3.00 GHz
3.00 Ghz, 4 GB RAM

When I mean playing a game I mean the game just by itself with absolutely no other program running other than performance aiding programs such as Game Booster, and the like. Thanks again.

Yes,this build is good but i think it will bottleneck. It can run all the games...but what PSU do you have???
you should buy intel pentium dual core 2130 because it's newer.

That processor will not cut it in the near future... But for now, You'll be lucky to get away with high settings in newer titles, but you should be able to get away with medium settings no problem.

Burdu has asked you what PSU you have because it's important you have at least a 500w Powersupply.

Thanks for the answers fellas, I appreciate it heaps, my PSU is 650W which I'm not too sure about, I'll have to let you smart lads fill me in on that, and bottleneck eek! sounds threatening some information on that latter term would be much appreciated, I usually play on skyim 1600x400, essentially max on my monitor. In fact I just checked and I'm running Skyrim at medium believe it or not on my old ATI RADEON HD 5770, which is quite outstanding given the cards age. anyway fellas any other information would be greatly appreciated, I understand I'm pushing my luck with such an old CPU but if it's managing now I'm sure it could manage with perhaps this years games...maybe, after this year I think it's time to say goodbye to it ):

Simple explanation:
By bottleneck, i guess in this case the CPU bottlenecks your GPU. Meaning the GPU you have right now is a pretty fast one, however that CPU is quite old even though it has a good clock of 3 Ghz.
So while the GPU is running at high speeds, the CPU just might not be able to match those speeds of the GPU. So basicaly the games you play will be limited because of CPU performance and not because of the GPU.

However, you may not notice this factor, as that CPU can handle recent games at that resolution pretty well at high settings and with such a good GPU as well.

Also just check the make/manufacturer of the PSU. Corsair, Cooler master, Seasonic etc. are some of the trusted brands. Also a PSU should be atleast 80+ certified. Meaning that it will use 80% of the available power efficiently at full load or when the PC is doing intensive work.

Well, the Bottleneck won't hurt your PC, 650w should be enough! I'd say you're going a bit overkill with the GPU for that resolution. A 650 Ti or HD 7790 is enough to play at 1080P on medium settings with a decent CPU.

I think your CPU is more so the performance limiting factor here... honestly, you should buy a HD 7790 or a GTX 650 Ti Boost and sell you 5770 and upgrade your CPU to an i3 or a FX 6300 Either one would do you good.
