Should I get a GTX 760 or just keep my 7870 XT?

I recently bought a 7870, but it doesn't work, so I'm sending it for repair soon. I found out that the 760 has launched today and I was attracted by the price and performance. I still have the chance to get a refund on my 7870 as well. On Thursday I'm getting £40 which I originally intended to spend on the steam sales. But now, hmm, I could afford one if I stretched my money a bit but is it worth it?

I'd like to see some proof of that statement please. The GTX 760 trades blows with the 7950 and 7970

GTX 760 is faster than a Radeon 7950. By whole 11%. (aftermarket cooling solution)

It is placed performance wise between the Radeon 7950 and GTX 670.

Personally I would shift the GPU to a GTX 760, it would give you a nice bump in performance and will let you enjoy the softwares that Nvidia is offering their customers! :)

As you can see here, the much cheaper 760 beats the $300 7950 by 3%.

A the 7870 XT is a 7950 that couldn't pass test requirements (much like nVidia's 560-448 some time back). The 7870 XT has 192 versus the 7950's 240 memory bandwidth and a 256 bit bus versus the 7950's 384 bit bus. It can not therefore approach the perofrmnace of the 7950.

http://www.hardcoreware.net/sapphire-radeon-7870-xt-tahiti-le-review/

As you can see, Tahiti LE is a detuned version of the Tahiti core used in the 7950 and above. Any 7950 core that is fabricated that cannot run at full spec gets binned and sold to Sapphire as Tahiti LE.

Don't even go there. All the games have been developed with optimization for the GCN architecture and that is why all the games are in the 'bundle' that AMD are using to keep their place in the market and you know it. :)

Like you said earlier those games are optimized for AMD just like Nvidia it has its own game optimized for itself to. So it just depends on the OP on what he will be playing and what fits his budget. And the graph that I posted was a comparison for HIS QUESTION 760 or 7870 and the obvious winner was.. tell him fanboy. I mean i'm a Nvidia fanboy myself but damn I can't believe thats how I sound most of the time.
