why all the hype and discussions about high end graphics cards 1000 dollar titain, gtx780 ect. when 30 fps is what your eyes came see anyway some film is 24 fps. so why 50, 70, or 100+ fps whats the difference? I would think most people have 24in to 27in monitors. I have an old hd5850 it still runs my new games on my 23in above 30fps. please explain.

Solution
1) Because you can.

2) Because 30 isn't the limit to what all can see.

3) Because sometimes you don't see it, you feel it.

4) Because high-end GPUs will mean you don't have to upgrade as soon again as otherwise.

5) Because great GPUs have great features (GTX 780 records gameplay).

6) Because some GPUs come with free games (Such as some Radeon cards).

7) Because you can't do it on consoles.

8) Because you want to brag.

9) Because there's worse things you can waste money on.

10) Because you might be using multiple-monitors; yes for work too.

11) Because powerful GPUs can speed up other programs you might use often (Video/photo-editing).

12) Because you've got a 120Hz monitor (that already adds fluidity) and you want a GPU...

I game on a 120hz monitor meaning the higher the fps the smoother the gameplay so i strive to achieve the most fps that i can. Also some of us like benching with high end cards

that is a lie first off, your eyes can see more than 30fps easily, the reason 120hz monitors are popular is because then output a 120fps which you can still see and this smooths the gameplay out also to see less clunky. Bf3 vs Cod on consoles, 30 fps vs 60 fps which you can tell from player movements and smoothness of the game. just high end gpu are for mostly multi monitor setup or recording games at the highest graphics and fps possible.

Note, no one in their right mind, on these forums, would buy a GTX Titan.

Some might get a GTX 780 though.

The trained eye can see a LOT more than just 30FPS. For people that spend a lot of time gaming its easy to notice 50 vs 60 FPS.

Anyway. Keep in mind that a CONSTANT FPS is preferred, so any sort of sudden dip to under "noticible" is worse than a lower constant.

Also, a GTX Titan can not even max out Crysis 3 at 2560*1440 resolution(most of which are 27" monitors). Its not about the size of the monitor, its the resolution or pixel count that makes the performance difference.
