Computer recognizes headset but won't give output sound

I just built my first computer and my headset was working fine. I installed some drivers the 7870 GPU and I think that is what made the headset stop working. I know my headset works because I played it on a iphone to see. Is it a driver problem? Also it is a turtlebeach z11 headset.

sounds like when you installed your ati drivers your operating system may have set the default output device to the ati card. I would try to set it back to your computer's sound card and try again.

I have set it as default but I am still not receiving sound from the headset.

and this razer headset sounds fine (sound plays on both right & left earpiece) when you tested it on your iphone?

after looking at a picture of your headset, it appears that it has a inline volume control and mic on/off, please make sure the volume is up. I am referring to the adjuster that is on the headset cord itself.
