Hello,
I have a Gigabyte Mini-ITX mobo (GA-E350N-USB3) http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3681#:
I'm using it as an HTPC and it does a pretty nice job considering I'm still using the on-board video (PCIe 1 (running at 4x) AMD states it is compliant with the PCIe 2.0 Standard. It is currently configured with 4GB of G.SKILL F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666); Timing 7-7-7-21; Cas Latency 7; Voltage 1.5V.
Here's the memory spec from AMD:
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB (total) of system memory
* Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB.
Single channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1333(OC)/1066 MHz memory modules
I'm considering an upgrade to 8 GB with one of the following based on AMD compatibility chart:
G.SKILL F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL: DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666); Timing 9-9-9-24-2N; Cas Latency 9; Voltage 1.5V
or
G.SKILL F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH: DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666); Timing 7-7-7-21; Cas Latency 7; Voltage 1.5V
My questions are:
1. Is this a worthwhile upgrade based on performance increase (if noticable) between 4 and 8 GB of RAM?
2. Which of the above RAM sticks will serve me best?
3. Anyone have a good recommendation for a DDR3 based video card (PCIe 2.0, see above)?
Thanks for your time and recommendations.
Oskaar
