Brand new Samsung laptop, 4 months old. With same router in old apartment, I did not have problem maintaining connection, although I did not test it often. In this apartment, same router, it goes "in and out"... I saw some requests to the community on here describing the same problem. I have to ask for "reconnect" or "diagnostics" each time. Then it doesn't hold the connection for more than a few minutes at any time. The cable company who connected my (same, old apartment) router in this apartment did not flick any switch on the back of it. This router dates back to pre 2007. I purchased a new one in 2/2013, with advice of cable company service person, making sure I'd purchase the right one, which woudl combine a wireless modem with the router. The "installer" on move-in date said it wasn't right and I returned it. SO I'm left with this pre-2007 Linksys router and Windows8 on my laptop. Can anyone diagnose what's going on and why I cannot hold the connection to my wireless service for very long? I have NO problem on my iPad in the apartment; it never fades out. So why won't my laptop keep the connection? Thanks for listening

Hi there, :bounce:
How old is your pc ?
This kind of problem often happens with an old one.
I've had the same problem with a Medion.
You could change you wireless card, it's not such a big deal and shouldn't be that expensive.
Otherwise, if you fear to mess up your computer, I suggest you simply buy a usb wireless key, you can get one quite easily and at bargain prices, such as this one, all you have to do is plug it in, install the correct drivers according to the brand and enjoy.

I hope I've been to some use to you and that you solve your problem in quickly. :hello:

I would suggest attempting to uninstall the existing drivers in order to roll back to a more stable version. Versions 15.6.0 and 15.6.1 have been known to cause similar issues in Series 9 Ultrabooks with Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless chipsets. Uninstalling the Intel PROSet/Wireless software from Programs and Features under the control panel caused the system to revert to a v15.5.6.48 driver which appears to resolve the issue. Alternatively, there appears to be a v15.8.0 release available from the Intel Download Center which may also resolve the issue.
