I recently just upgraded my machine from a 2600k to a 4770k and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7.

The 1150 motherboard I went with is the Asus Maximus VI HERO.

Included with the motherboard was software to create a RAM Disk.

Seeing that I have 16GB and its a gaming PC, I decided to make 2GB RAM Disk for Google Chrome in order to preserve my SSD.

Since I've done this, I've noticed games will randomly crash or become unresponsive i.e. "____ Has Stopped Working."

This is my first experience using a RAMdisk and I am wondering if RAMdisk have been known to cause system instability.

I would appreciate any further information regarding RAMdisks anyone wants to give me.

I have since erased the RAMdisk and haven't had an issue.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have the DRAM running under XMP? i.e. did you enable XMP select profile 1? or is it running at AUTO, in which case prob at 1333 or 1600 and prob with loose timing.....that could be the problem, even if under XMP with a brand new mobo, the base timings may be correct but there could be a problem with the advance timings, notably the tRFC...Try running CPU-Z (free utility) and let me know what it shows in the memory tab

I enabled XMP and set the frequency to 2133 and thats all I've done thus far. I am actually at work at the moment and not by my PC.

Can check your advance timings, particularly look at the tRFC should be in the range of 255-278, but if it seem OK now, might try DataRam's RAMDisk software, they have a free version that allows up to a 4GB RAM disk, I've never had a problem with theirs.
