Hello guys. This is my first post, so I'm sorry if I do anything wrong.

First of all I own an Asus VH238H. It has built in speakers. So for sound, I use the audio cord from my computer to the monitor. My problem is when its plugged up, it makes quite a loud whine.
If I unplug the cord though, the whine goes away. When I first got the monitor, it did not do this.
I did rearrange my set up to another part of the room. I read something about a Ground loop. But I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone help?

The whine moise could be that you got it plugged into the wrong audio jack.Usually the green jack on the Pc is stereo out and the monitor should have a similar green jack. The black jack is for headphones usage. The whining noise could be that you plugged into the headphone jack (audio out) on the monitor.

Thank you for the response. But I have a two way aux cord going from my pc to my monitor. I do in fact have it plugged into the right jack.

If I had it plugged into the wrong one, I wouldn't hear sound from my monitor. I can hear sound. Just on idle, there is a quite annoying whine coming from the speakers from my monitor.

Whining noise from the speakers may be interference from a telecommunications device like a usb modem, iphone or other type of mobile phone, an old fashioned stereo/record player system pre 1989, etc being too close to the speakers. Some amplifiers doe react baddly with speakers twhen in close proximity. A guitar amplifier can create a problem as well.

Aux cable, that should be a single cable with identical stereo jacks on either end.

When you plug the cable into the PC, an audio dialog should pop up giving auto-sensing of any connection or disconnection of a cable in the jacks. Make sure that your green jack is actually assigned to the stereo out.
