Mouse disconnecting a reconnecting

I have a Logitech G500 and it's been working fine for a couple of months up until recently. I don't know what I've done to make it to do this.

What happens is that the Windows sound for disconnecting a device and then the sound for connecting a device plays. During this time my mouse seemingly cuts out. It is a very short period of time, definitely under a second. And if I am clicking or pressing a key on my keyboard, they press will continue even after I have let go.
The visuals in my games and videos are fine, they carry on as normal.

I have tried pulling the cable that connects to the mouse lightly to see if the connection is loose but it seems fine. I've moved the mouse around like I would in a game, seems fine. The times at which this occurs seems random to me.

My mouse (G500) and keyboard (G710+) both use the Logitech Gaming Software. I have reinstalled this multiple times. I have uninstalled both the mouse drivers from Device Manager and rebooted. I believe the mouse is effectively being disconnected a reconnected because if my DPI is not default (I can change it with button on mouse), and the reconnection occurs, it goes back to the default DPI.

I am running Windows 8 64-bit. If you need to know any additional information let me know. Thanks.

edit: Just checked and the mouse is USB 2.0 and is in a 2.0 port, tried switching it to another to see if that affects anything, could take a while to see if it happens again...

The G500 is compatiable with Logitech Gaming Software. Why would SetPoint fix it? The drivers are installed and it says "Logitech G500" on the mouse driver in device manager.

SetPoint allocates resources to each device. If you use wireless devices, it creates a reservation for each wirelss adapter and device so that other devices don't piggy-back the infrared adapter, lots of good things, you should consider using it.

I need to use Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) because of the settings it gives me. Macros and settings etc, also my keyboard can't be configured at all with Setpoint. When I install Setpoint it overrides LGS and all my settings are overwritten.

What is your OS? Windows 8 x64...
Are you uusing USB 3.0 port or USB 2.0 port for the keyboard?

Use the keyboard for USB 3.0 and usb 2.0 port for the mouse.

Edit -
There doesn't seem to be any drivers applicable for Windows 8 x64, not sure if you could use compatibility mode for the mouse and keyboard, though.

Look in Control Panel > Mouse and se if there is a way to configure the x, y configuration. Some controllers are just not forward comaptible, I had a sidewinder steering wheel that was only suited to Windows 98Se and barely worked with XP, usaing it in Windows 7 x32 and x64 made both systems crash.

You may need to acquire actual Windows 8 X64 devices otherwise, go back to Windows 7 x64.

Sometimes there just doesn't seem to be any good purpose ibn updating to the latest OS when everything was working great guns before.

I think it's W8 64 Pro.
The G710+ has two USB ports, one for the keyboard, and one for a USB port on the keyboard.
Before I had the keyboard one in a 2.0, and the USB one in the 3.0. My mouse was in 2.0.

I have just plugged in all of them in to 3.0. I'll post again the next time it happens, or if it doesn't happen for a while.

Yep, it's back. I'll try keyboard on 3.0 and mouse on 2.0. I have Setpoint installed now and managed to get LGS to override it with its settings.

If this doesn't work I'm considering reinstalling my OS.

It's not about the OS, you don't need to re-install.

You could try using the port in the keyboard for the mouse.

Are you using a switch box or connecting directly to the motherboard, and using front or back panel ports?

Also, do you have any other devices attached like a phone, camera, pen tablet, usb TV capture etc?

I just plugged in the mouse into the keyboard.
I had the mouse and keyboard directly into the motherboard in the back.
I have my headset, mouse, keyboard, 2 monitors, ethernet and power. That's all I have plugged into my computer.

The 12v power connector, is it fully occupied and properly plugged in?

The only other thing to do is to turn off the power to the PC then go and unseat/reseat all the connectors including the ram and hdd to each device and the motherboard then turn on the power wait a moment then power on the PC to desktop.

Other than that, you may neeed to use the updates in the motherboard site.

Consider removing the headset then do a restart to desktop then do a shut down then boot up then do another shutdown then connect the headset and power up again.
