Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop (running Windows 7) that I left turned off and unplugged for about 5-6 months. When I finally turned it back on, the battery light was flashing orange and blue (and continues to flash, even when it's turned off, unless I unplug it again).

Windows boots up as it should and runs normally. It's just that the battery won't charge now, even when the laptop's plugged in (it says '0% charged, plugged-in, charging' when I hover over the battery icon). I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, but that had no effect.

My question is, does it need a new battery? Or do I just need to let it charge for a long time? (I've had it plugged in for the past couple of days, but it still says the battery is at 0%.)

Thanks in advance!
