Hi there,

I recently got a GTX 770 card for my recently built haswell system.

It's an i5 4670K (but not OC), 16gb ram, Gigabyte Z87 board and Sandisk SSD system.

When I run the Tomb Raider benchmark on the ultimate setting I get 55 FPS. I've run it a few times, and it consistently comes back at 55 FPS.

I just read the most recent GTX 760 review from today and in their Tomb Raider benchmark, the 770 scores just over 80 FPS. The main differences between the test system and mine is Ivybridge i7 vs. haswell i5, and they have their 16GB ram as 4x4 and mine is 2x8

But could those differences really make up that difference in FPS? What else could be going on?

The i7 supports Hyper Threading (the processor appears as an 8-core chip, and can process more at once), while your i5 does not. If Tomb Raider is optimized for Hyper Threading, it could make a difference.

Also, depending on the brand of card you bought, the clock settings could be slightly different from card to card, and that could affect frame rates slightly.

Memory being 4 4GB sticks or 2 8GB sticks shouldn't matter, assuming the timings and frequency are the same.

Did you set it the same: Ultimate Quality Preset, FXAA Enabled, 16x Anisotropic Filtering, TressFX Hair, 1920x1080. Note fxaa not msaa.

You can also try a modest 4.1 or 4.2 overclock and see if it changes your result (assuming you have an aftermarket cooler).
