Hey,

First time posting.
Just wondering if you guys can give me any help on some components to build a cheapish pc for a famil member. Trying to keep the budget down as low as possible but I do want this pc to last atleast 2-3 years so not too shabby. It will be primarily used for general word processing, net browsing, skype chats and occasional minor video editing.

Specs below are from www.msy.com.au as of last night:

case: antec 300-U3 Three-Hundred U3 Gaming USB3.0 Tower without PSU = 72
psu: Corsair VS450 450W Power Supply Units PSU = 48
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M = 60
cpu: Intel i3 3220 3.3ghz = 129
ram: G.Skill Sniper 8G Kit(4Gx2) DDR3 = 69
gpu: Gigabyte GV-N640OC =87
hdd:Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 2TB = 95
blu ray drive: Pioneer BDC-207-BDK Blu-Ray Combo = 58
keyboard/mouse: GIGABYTE Wireless Desktop = 24
webcam:Logitech C270 Webcam = 25

Total: $667

I would consider getting an amd a-10. that way you dont have to buy the gpu. Or alternatively, dont buy a gpu at all because it seems like they dont really need it.

Can also get a cheaper case unless they really prefer the antec 300.

for the power supply, get this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139026

only $20 after rebate and its ok in quality. Will handle the build just fine

Also have you considered prebuilt? sometimes you can find deals that make it much cheaper than this. Comes with mouse/keyboard/OS/Warranty

You should make an account there and have them calculating the shipping fee for you: http://pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=conditions

"Shipping and Delivery Policy
We offer the choice of shipping using StarTrack and Australia Post eParcel. For each courier, there is a choice of two service levels, Express or Standard, and both have online tracking. Please provide a physical delivery address where someone is likely to be available to accept the delivery during business hours. Shipping costs are influenced by the size and weight of the product and your location. You can see pricing on the available shipping options by entering your post code into the freight calculator. This calculator appears on the lower half of the screen when you add items to your cart. The cost of shipping per product drops as you add more items to cart as the base courier charge spreads over multiple items. We aim to ship all orders, where products are in stock, within 1-2 business days. Shipping times are estimated at between 1-7 business days depending on your location within Australia and are subject to the limitations of our third party carriers. All risk of loss or damage to the products passes to you when we despatch the products unless you have opted for Parcel Protection. If for any reason we are unable to dispatch your order we will notify you within 2 business days."

umm if you are ditching the gpu, then you won't have dedicated graphics sooo i dunno what you are trying to get at here.

Once again if you are not going to do much with this, get an amd a-10 APU. You don't need a thousand dollar computer to skype and listen to music
