[HELP] One last hurdle before my first ever build

Currently I'm using a DELL Studio XPS 9100. It's about 4 years old machine and I'm thinking about building a new one myself. Thus bringing me to this forum.

Initially I was only thinking about changing the GPU. Somehow, one thing led to another and before I knew, I'd gotten below parts ordered:

1. PC Case - Corsair Carbide 300R windowed mid tower case.
2. Motherboard - ASUS Sabertooth X58 motherboard
3. Graphics Card - MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC
4. Storage - Samsung 840 Series SSD 500GB
5. PSU - Seasonic X-650
6. RAM - Corsair Dominator 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz
7. CPU Cooler - Kuhler H2O 920
8. Fans - 2x AF120, 1x AF140

Q1: Now, I will be using my existing processor i7 970 3.20GHz onto my new motherboard. There should be no issue right? Just make sure to install it correctly and cleanly.

Q2: Currently my OS, Windows 7 Pro is on a 2TB mechanical hard drive. My greatest worry is how to migrate to the new SSD I bought.

Q3: With above scenario, what should be the flow steps to follow logically? eg: Step 1: Migrate OS to new SSD. Step 2: ... etc, etc.

I will appreciate any advices, comments and opinions. This will be my first time building a computer. Please help.

Thanks.

  1. Your cpu should be fine for that board according to its cpu support page. As for the os transfer, try this;

    Although for a boot drive, you might want to go with a smaller ssd; like 64gb or 90gb.
