I have a Asus M5A99X EVO AMD 990X Chipset and will be using it with a vtx3d 7870 tahiti version and i got a 2 month old MSI 7770, i will also be using 2 monitors, now i know to crossfire you need to run two of the same gpus or in the same series but if i dont plan to crossfire or anything like that, can i use those 2 gpus at the same time? will i notice any improvements or are there any benefits? what about for the 2 monitors, i could use my gaming one on the vtx3d and the browising one on the 7770 is this possible?

More about : running gpus

NO, but you can try, either one or the other.

You can use them both simultaneously (one for each monitor) if you want. If you want to have content displayed on the second monitor while gaming on the primary monitor, having a separate graphics card for the secondary monitor will help reduce the load on the primary graphics card. I find this distracting, and some games don't like you to have multiple monitors enabled while gaming. I just use one graphics card and disable the second monitor while gaming.

would 600w be enough for this set up? so the only benefit that i would gain from using both my graphics card would be to plug each monitor into each graphics card and decreasing the load of my main gpu? no performance or any other benefits will i gain?

Don't...
