Hello,

I have a Gainward GTS 250 (1Gb) video card and its fan stopped working. The card now heats up to over 90 degrees even while simply browsing and then shuts down.
http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=118 (same model but with more memory, but basically the same)

I've "installed" a 120mm case cooler under it for now, but I'd like a more permanent solution.

I'd like to know what cooling options I have for this type of card on a low budget (otherwise I guess it's better to just buy a new card considering how old this one is, but I don't really need something better atm :p) I've tried finding one myself but most sites don't show this specific card in the compatibility lists so I'm afraid to buy anything.

Thanks in advance.

Try contacting Gainward directly, it's a long shot but a 'phone call or E-mail only takes a few minuets.
A replacement cooler will need to be of the older generation, if you have n't already done so check the Acrtic and Zalman sites they're usually very helpful.
In the meantime the oldest trick is still a good one: Get a case fan of the same size as the dead one and attach it to the card using either cable (zip) ties or sticky Velcro pads (the Velcro means you can just pull it off later ;) ). If you like you can cut the blades off the old fan or remove it altogether to improve airflow and reduce noise.
