I am a strong believer in Corsair PSUs, so will recommend that. 860w is also perfect for your build

If you aren't planning on SLI in the future, then you might be able to save some cash and get a 600 or 650 instead of the huge beasts you have selected. Take a look over at the XBit labs power consumption on a heavily overclocked 3970x here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/nvidi...

The max it draws is 535 watts from the wall, assuming a 90% efficient power supply that means it's only actually supplying 482 watts to the PC, and your CPU will probably be using quit a good chunk less power. If you really want an 80Plus Platinum you could save 90 bucks by going with something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... or if you don't mind dropping down to an 80Plus Gold you could grab this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... . . . 120 bucks saved is an SSD for SRT and a switch up to the WD Black drive.

At least something to think about.

Why not XFX PRO 750W Black Edition, <$110, cheap and able to achieve typical 90% efficiency, for your four choice absolutely AX860i, and your system is good.
One question, how good is the Z87 Extreme; OC Formula able to fight it at lower price, the best about OC formula is in video encoding/rendering, as prove, in memory test, this board edge Sniper 5 and maximus extreme showing it truly a winner, although no test show that.
780 is good, 760 sli might able to break it.
G.skill could be high performing normal use Ram; Corsair better in rendering due to high memory bandwidth; Patriot intel extreme limited edition could be little overprice, but its good, timing at high overclock.

WD Black is the best desktop series.

I actually run the Coolermaster 800w silent pro gold and it's a good power supply. Quiet, powerful, etc. But! I have to echo the recommendations of my peers here- I wish I'd gone with the Corsair AX860i. It's platinum certified, fully modular, has better warranty and support from Corsair, plus you can buy the multicolored individually braided replacement cables :)

Hell, I MIGHT still get that Corsair!
