My friend told me I can only reap the full benefits of SLI if I have two of the same GPU. Then he told me as long as they're the same series it will work. Any info would be appreciated.

More about : msi gtx 760 msi gtx 770

GTX760 and GTX770 aren't the same GPU, therefor you can use both of them for a SLI setup. Brand doesn't matter.

In your opinion would it be worth it?

You can only SLI two of the same GPU (760 with 760 or 770 with 770). You can SLI two GPUs with different brands as long as they have the same amount of VRAM (Asus GTX 770 2GB with EVGA GTX 770 2GB)

Eh worth what? You can only run 2 GTX760 or 2 GTX770 in SLI.
