I have an ASUS M5A78L-M LE motherboard with an AMD Sempron 145 Processor. I am planning to upgrade my proc to an AMD Athlon X2 260 Processor but there's something with the specs that bothers me.
My problem is about the Manufacturing tech of ASUS M5A78L-M LE motherboard which supports 32nm CPUs. Is it compatible with the 45nm manufacturing tech of AMD Athlon X2 260 processors?
Thanks much in advance who would care to help me with my problem.
Here's the specs of my mobo:
AMD AM3+ FX™/Phenom™ II/Athlon™ II/Sempron™ 100 Series Processors
Supports AM3+ 32 nm CPU
Supports CPU up to 95 W
AMD 760G (780L)/SB710
Here's the specs of my target processor:
Athlon II X2
CPU Socket Type
Athlon II X2 260
L1 Cache2 x 128KB
L2 Cache2 x 1MB
64 bit Support
Virtualization Technology Support
Thermal Design Power
Ofcourse it is, because compatibility is based on the socket. But not on Transistor size. So go for it and if you have a little more money fo for 4 core processor. Athlon is gona put you down soon, it is quite weak.i have use it for a year and a half. and remember to mark the answer as solution if u got wht u wanted thanks;
