Building new computer with intel's i7 3770k (3rd generation sandy-bridge processor). But I saw recently launched 4th generation Haswell processor. And getting confused which would be better to buy 3770k or 4770k...
As price is concern i7 3770k is about $310 and i7 4770k $330.
So which one will be better 3rd gen or 4th gen. I'm really confused all reviews and all blogs praising and hating, but no one suggest to buy or leave it. So please help me. Thanks a lot in advance.

Solution
And if your really stuck on the i7 and don't want the i5 then go with the 3770k it can be overclocked so much higher than the 4th gen and it fits the as rock extreme 4 motherboard and that board is sweet

Well in intels eyes the 4th gen is always better just because it;s the newest thing out there but if you look at the specs both are clocked at 3.5ghz so i mean the choice is yours but in the end your really getting the same thing except for a few things that aren't really going to affect you much if your an overclocker i have inel core i5 3570k and im getting regularly 3.5ghz and when over clocked up to 3.7 and the price for mine was only 210 dollars on amazon the choice is your but the i5 is cheaper and almost the same as the i7

also the difference between the 2 i7's is the cache 3770k has 8MB of shared cache while 4770k has 32gb total memory storage but again like i said before they both have 4 processors (quad core) and both really run fast but just because the i7 is newer doesn't mean it's that much greater don't take the i5 out of your consideration it's a great processor and i love it but the choice is yours

thanks for help, I decided already to go for i7. If I go for i7 4770K, as it is new technology then other PC components (motherboard and etc) will cost more. So I cant afford that much. What you think should I wait or buy i7 3770k or i7 4770k. If you can suggest me better choices in same price range. I want basic gaming and high performance computer, so I decided this configuration...

I really dig your motherboard hat's the one i have and youll love it but for price go with the i5 3570k because it can be overclocked higher than you i7 3770 but the i7 could be overclocked higher also so i mean depending on your price all the processors you listed will give you high gaming and computing performance my i5 3570k i overclocked to 3.9ghz but i was too arfraid to go much further because cooler isnt the greatest but ive seen youtube videos of the i5 getting 4.1 ghz maxed out the choice is yours when it comes to price but you will definetly save on the processor money wise so you could upgrade your other components

hey thanks for all your help. I'm sticking to this i7 3770k like a fanboy you can say, but I want to know which cpu cooler near $20 (1000 rs (india)) should I go for?

And as you are saying to go for 2*4gb sticks. But if I want to install more ram in future if needed (what you think?), that's why decide to go for 1*8gb stick. Any suggestion for that.

And for graphic card I decided to go for Asus AMD/ATI HD 7770 Direct CU, as it provide better cooling in my opinion. What you think about that. And asus 7770 causes any future problem.
Which HD 7770 graphic card manufacture wise will be better and don't want/need overclocked.
Please help in that also. Thanks in advance.

Asus
Sapphire
MSI
PowetColor
XFX...

with motherboards its better to have 2 sticks than one just because of speed but since you have a extreme4 motherboard you will have 2 extra slots left after you install the 2*4gb so you could add in the future 2 more 4gb or 2 8gb for a total of 32gb max on the motherboard this motherboard can only work up to 32gb of ram so it would be better to just for now get the 2 4gb and then upgrade later unless your doing professional editing and programming and such you don't need more than 16gb and for the cooler i have a Corsair hydra h50 and it works great and it will fit your motherboard and processor considering we have the same mobo and our processors are the same socket and i really am not good with graphics cards that is something you can post on another forum and a specialist can help you with but nvidia is at the top of their game right now check out some of their stuff but when looking for a graphics card look for YouTube videos of the selected card and look a lots of reviews hopefully i helped a little like i said repost the graphics card thing on the graphics card forum in here and then you can find a much better answer than i can provide
