Changing cpu fan causes windows repair

so i changed my cpu cooler (i had a Phanteks TC14PE and now have a H100i) on my initial startup after changing this my computer went into recovery mode, claiming there was a root error
now i know if you change things between boots they can cause a crash (video cards, sata ports), but i changed the fan config so the fans for my h100i were running as case fans(I had them as cpu optional fans 2 and 3 when it "crashed") and the computer booted perfectly, is there a way to change this kind of thing so its not so annoying? also should have this have happened?

see i thought i shouldn't have that happening, i have the cpu fans attached as a case fans to avoid the "crashing" issue

Never run a CPU cooler as a case fan. Plug it into the right connector on your motherboard and problems should cease.

wow i must be explaining this all wrong or you guys aren't reading right

the config i had when it crashed is CPU FANS ATTACHED AS CPU FANS

the way i avoid crashing is CPU FANS ATTACHED AS CASE FANS

Check the minimum fan speed in the BIOS ..... if it s at the default Intel cooler setting, its likely too low to start the fan on the H100 which "really blows" :) . I know two peeps which changed from the H100 to the Phanteks for that reason .... shuda introduced you guys !

Yes, your original post wasn't clear at all. I read it twice by the way.

Still, no idea why it's doing this. It shouldn't. But can you connect it back to the CPU fan now? Do you still get the crash? Or can you go over it? Like boot in safe mode the first time, and after boot normal?

As I read, you were plugged into the secondary or tertiary CPU fan port. Try the primary. Otherwise you have a PSU/MOBO problem.

on my mobo there are pins for additional cpu fans for multi fan coolers and they are designated as "cpu optional 2 and 3" i am going to try again now so ill be back in 1 second

so now as i boot it in the cpu fan config (being all 3 connectors are in their proper spots) it boots properly but all the fans on it run at full speed constantly,

i am declaring this thread closed because i guess there was no problem just a weird coincidence

I think this may be related to a fan controller problem I have been having, sigh, my computer will never really run right will it. *knock wood*
