so I'm thinking about selling my friend my setup currently which is an I7 960, with a rampage 3 formula MOBO. and was curious if the 650 TI boost would bottleneck this system. He currently has an I5 650, so I know my setup would be a huge step up, but I don't want to screw him on this deal. I was suggesting some GFX cards that would be good with my set up, and just wanted an opinion if the 650 TI boost would still perform well with my system or if i should suggest a different GFX card.

For heavens sake no it won't bottleneck even a 770 let alone a 650ti people under-estimate the 2011 line as if they're like the old pentiums or something. The i7 960 is still pretty damn powerful man do not sell your system because of it. Even your friends system won't be bottlenecked by the 650ti boost

lol thanks for the facepalm. the I7 960 is a 1366 socket though. The reason I'm trying to sell it is because I have an I7 3770k and ASRock formula mobo waiting to put in.

In that case go ahead but if i wouldn't let you sell it away if you thought that the 650ti boost was gonna bottleneck the 960

Well currently I'm running my GTX 680 classified with my i7 960 and I think I'm seeing a very slight bottleneck, nothing too severe though. My friend just wants a pretty good system, and since I'm selling my old stuff, I was trying to suggest some good GFX cards that would bottleneck this system. The 650 TI Boost is in his price range, do you think there is another card that competes with that, and might be a little better? or is that one of the best bang for buck cards under $200?

Personally i wouldn't go with the nvidia since their latest drivers have been destroying gpu's and ffs mousemonkey im not an AMD shill making my round. I actually have a 9600GSO that's dying because of the drivers. At that price range you can get the HD7850 which is a bit faster than the 650ti or if you're an nvidia person go with the 650ti BOOST edition. (I wouldn't)
