Is it "acceptable" to use 2.5" HDDs in desktop computers? I know they're mainly for laptops, but do they lack any features of 3.5" HDDs, or are they unsuitable for desktops for any other reason?

I'm asking because I'm building a new Mini-ITX PC, and I don't know whether to get a new 3.5" HDD or a 2.5" HDD -[strike] they seem to be around the same price, so there seems to be no premium in price for the smaller size.[/strike]

EDIT: Actually, 2.5" HDDs are slightly more expensive, but not too much.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks :)

Yes. That is what is in my wife's PC right now, and has been for a year. A drive is a drive.
The only issue is that it is a 5400 rpm drive as opposed to a normal desktop 7200 rpm drive.
But yes, it will work.

But for the same price, get a 3.5" 7200rpm drive.
