Hello, I'm trying to put together a budget gaming rig for around 700 dollars and I would really love some feedback and advice on what I've put together. These are the components:
Case: APEX PC-389-C Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz
Mobo: MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AM3+ AMD 760G Micro ATX
GPU: PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5
PSU: Rosewill Stallion 500W ATX12V v2.2
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB 7200 RPM
Memory: Corsair XMS DDR3 (4GB x2)
Optical: LG 24X DVD Burner
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
and the price comes to a grand total of $658.30
I got these for a combo deal excluding the GPU and OS, so I can't change anything, but if you guys can come up with a combo better than this I would love to hear your suggestions.

Personally I would not trust a Rosewill PSU. I've bought a few non-mechanical Rosewill products, and they're great, but I'm not so sure about their actual components.

Could you list more details re: the combo? Like what is the combo price and what exactly is included in the combo? It's a little weird that the combo includes a mATX mobo and an ATX Mid Tower, but it's a small Mid Tower, so that's not necessarily an issue.

Yes, definitely. They are WAY overcharging you for RAM. 8GB (whether 1x8GB or 2x4GB) of DDR3 1600 Mhz should cost AT MOST $60 (those 4GB sticks listed are $30 AFTER a rebate, and rebates don't always work out. I'm still waiting on a $50 rebate from 2011, mind you.). Divert the $40 you save there to the PSU, preferably a 500w-600w made by Seasonic/PC Power and Cooling/Antec/Silverstone. You also don't need the extra fan, and you can get cheaper 500GB HDDs.

Edit: for your budget, that case, mobo, and CPU are all good values. I don't have as good of a perception of low-end MSI boards as I do low-end ASRock boards, so explore the ASRock boards if possible. However this perception is based off of a lot of Newegg reviews which may or may not have been written by total n00bs.

For some reason ASRock caters to budget builds well and are almost always a better value than their competitors in this part of the market. ASRock is owned by Pegatron, which is sort of a part of ASUS, so ASRock is intended to compete with a slightly different market than ASUS. The ASRock brand name is also newer so it has to more aggressively price its products. I own an ASRock board and am very happy with it. Think PegASUS, Pegatron, ASUS, ASRock
