Well, maybe I can help you.
As I know, the "not formatted error" message often indicates some hard drive problems, such as a computer virus, hard drive problem, power surge, or problems with the operating system, etc. So, you should act carefully, if you still want to save your drive or inner data.

All right! Do you have anything important on this drive?
If not, you could directly format this drive to see whether it could be fixed.

But, if you do save something important on this drive, you should much more things to save it:

a. Do not format it before you've retrieved all your data back.

b. Do not write anything new on this drive before you are ready to get back your data.

c. Do not choose data recovery software randomly. Nowadays, there are plenty of data recovery programs available online. But, not all of them could perfectly get back all your inaccessible data. Just do much researching and select a most proper one.

In my opinion, you could try some free drive data recovery programs that always works well on a hard drive: http://geeksdo.com/freeware/data-recovery.html

c. Do not save the retrieved data on the same drive in case of data loss.

Note: From this incident, you should learn to back up all your important data.
