Hey everyone!
After months of talking about components and stuff I've finally bought and assembled a pc. These are the specs:
i5 4670
Sapphire HD 7870 XT
ASrock Z87 Pro4
Corsair Vengeance 1600mHz 8GB (2x4GB)
WD Blue 1TB
Silverstone Redline RL01
Silverstone Strider 500W
Samsung DVD/RW
TP-Link PCI-e 300mb/ps
Now the problem I have is that I thought I was finished building it and everything but apparently not. I plug the PSU into the powerpoint, turn the PSU on and press the power button. And the button lights up, the fan lights up and a second later it all switches off again. What do you think is likely to be the problem here? I really want to get my pc working :/
Thanks everyone

Make sure that EVERY single power cable is plugged in correctly including the 4/8pin CPU power and that the ram sticks have been pushed in till they clicked.

INCLUDING 4/9 Pin power? My mobo already runs on the 24pin connector...

Lemme look up a picture real quick... yep!

On the top side, near the edge (assuming normal orientation) of the motherboard, you've got an 8-pin CPU header. The motherboard is running off the 24-pin, but it takes extra power through that to give specifically to the CPU.

Plug that in and you'll be golden.

I'm glad I could help. The thing with computers is that it's usually always the little things that make you feel stupid. I once was broken down in frustration for three days because my computer wouldn't work after installing watercooling. Know why?

I had forgotten that my ram was half the height of normal ram, so when I checked and saw it sitting level with the guides instead of sunken below, I thought that it was in all the way.

Hahaha bad luck there.
And guess what?
My pc still doesn't work :/  The HDD isn't being recognized by UEFI, but it definitely works cause you can hear it spinning when I turn the pc on. Any help for this? Otherwise I'll post another thread.

So what happens when you try to install windows?

It says that the drive has not enough free space (Cause there is no drive) Just shows up as a no name drive with 0.00 free space, 0.00 occupied space etc

And you've tried deleting and formatting that, I'm sure?

How can I format a drive that technically doesn't exist :p  Anyway I hooked up my laptop's HDD to my new PC and it got recognised. So I think that I may have dud drive :(

Hmm, could be. Either that or it needs initializing. I'm pretty sure you don't have to do that when installing windows, just to add a drive TO windows, but it couldn't hurt to check.

Do you have any way of plugging the drive into your laptop?

Nope I don't have any way of hooking it up. At least not that I know of. Even if a SATA to USB cable exists I don't have one. :(

Yeah I do actually, might try hooking it up just in case. I have a mate coming over tomorrow to see if he can spot what's wrong or maybe see if I stuffed up something on the motherboard. I don't think there's much I can do now. It just really annoys me that I just spent like $1000 and all I get to do is stare at it -_-
