Hi TH Community, i need your help :ouch:

im building a gaming computer (i started with the case) i purchased the Cooler Master HAF X Full tower 3.0 USB, so, now the next thing im going to purchase is the MOBO, im purchasing 1 or 2 parts per month as i have the money to spend on it, so i dont want to waste anymoney and purchase a super MOBO that comes with things that i will not use.

right now im thinking on this ones tell me what u think:

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD4H LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

ASRock Z77 Extreme6 LGA 1155
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

if u see they are around $160 wich i think is very affordable, lets say my budget cant be up to $190 MAX. if you have any better sugestions i will highly appreciate it, if u dont, well just give your opinion about wich of this 2 cards u think is better and why :D !

Thanks for the help!

Both are good boards. ASRock Z77 Extreme 6 seems to better because it has a 8+4 Power phase while Gigabyte only has 8 power phase. The +4 phase are dedicated to the ram slots which means it'll be more stable.

I'd suggest GA-Z77X-UD5H with much better OC options that those two board. You can get it for around 160$, too, due to the 30$ discount on it atm: http://us.ncix.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&s...

i think i will not be over clocking anything because i just i dont know how to do it.

actually i have never build a pc in my entire life, but i been watching like 3 hours of videos daily about components and how to build a PC and at this moment i think i can say i will be able to do it, but going to OC i think will be too much for me at this point, however thanks for the recommendation i will see reviews and information about this card ! :) !

Q - Why are you looking at older tech when the newer Haswell and Z87 Chipsets are available?

Example of Z87 MOBO's - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=E...

Personally for the money:
$160 MOBO: ASUS Z87-PLUS - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$240 CPU: Intel i5-4670K - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$80 RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 Model CMY8GX3M2A1866C9 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
If you'll OC:
$104 HSF: Corsair H100i http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
If you need more Processing/RAM e.g. Rendering:
$350 CPU: Intel i7-4770K - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$145 RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Corsair offers Silver, Red & Blue color kits of the same specs.

Because i still dont want to go with 1150, i know is the "new" 1155 but as a new product i think they are inovating, and inovation sometimes leads to do somethings with margin of errors, or failures, and 1155 MOBOS are more than tested, they are basically a guarantee for gaming. thank you very much, i still will search and look into your specs, wich i will consider,

Then I would chill for a month and see, the LGA 1155 with their B2 vs B3 fiasco won't be repeated.

You're welcome. Which CPU are you using?

If you're sure you're not going to overclock or use more then 1 graphics card then a H77 chipset motherboard would be enough for your needs.

H77 offers the same thing Z77 offers except it takes away the ability to overclock the CPU and the ability to use SLI/Corssfire. H77 is a lot cheaper then the Z77, it's in the $60-$120 price range.

Best 'Bang for the Buck' is the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Next best all around for good OC's with low vCore's is the ASUS P8Z77-V PRO - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

True true... Well i5 3570k would be the best choice if you're going with ivy bridge.

Haswell has been released for almost a month now and I haven't heard anything bad about it. Haswell runs a bit hotter then Ivy Bridge but it gives 10% more performance. For the same price, I would probably go for Haswell cuz it's new technology :)
Your choice tho, if you don't feel comfortable with haswell then go with ivy bridge.

They're almost identical. Extreme 4 is a bit smaller.

The Main Differences:
Extreme6 has DisplayPort with max. resolution up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz
Extreme6 has extra 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot & 1 x mini-PCI Express slot
Extreme6 uses Etron EJ168A controller
Extreme4 uses Asmedia ASM1042 (more popular)
Extreme6 has better heatsink and better VRM (important for stability)
Extreme6 comes with front panel USB3

Extreme6 is better built + it has front panel USB3 so it's worth the extra $20.

The ASRock Z77 Extreme4 comes with a USB 3.0 FrontPanel 19-pin connector, and the OP's case CM HAF X RC-942-KKN1 has built-in USB 3.0 front ports. It's probably one of if not the most long-term LGA 1155 MOBO's out there so production blunders are to a minimum.

My general experience with ASRock is more 'stuff' often equates to more 'problems' so unless there's a true 'need' for the 'stuff' simpler = better.

Ideally the ASUS P8Z77-V PRO or ASUS P8Z77-V have always had high OC's at lower vCores than the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 or ASRock Z77 Extreme6, so 'IF' OC'ing is in the plan then I'd simply go the ASUS route.
