I have about 100 bucks to spend on a motherboard. I was told asrock is a very reliable brand, but what do you guys think? Would you go with a Asus, gigabyte or asrock? Thanks!

Solution
I would go with Asus (have a long history with them, always good stuff), but Gigabyte is just as good, sometimes better. Asrock is a little lower quality though (it isn't by much).

Thanks I really appreciate your response!

I like Asrock. they have come a long way since they first started. Then they got bought up by Asus, learned a lot, Asus turned them in a wholly owned subsidiary and they make good boards at good prices that rival boards that cost almost twice as much.

Gigabyte, I don't like and have had more or seen more failures of them than other boards, so I stay away from them.

Asus is a brand name that charges more for that honor of owning a Asus, but I find Asrock's rival them for less.

That's based off my observations anyways of building and repairing PC's and running my own business doing that.

My experience is quite the opposite, almost every Asrock i've owned died, when every Asus board i've owned is still working perfectly. Also never had any issues with gigabyte only Asrock.

Recently even, the onboard sound on my Asrock 970 extreme 4 just crapped out...

I've been seeing a lot of boot problems with builds and ASRock boards on the forums the last few days.

ASRock is a "value" brand. When it comes to putting my trust in high-quality components, I generally steer clear of any "value" brands. The one component you put your trust in that you may have thought you got a good deal on may end up jacking up the rest of your components. This is why you don't go "value" when it comes to power supplies either. In general, there's a reason the "value" brands cost less and it isn't by some miracle of nature.

I know some have had luck with ASRock, but I've always gone with Asus or Gigabyte components. I haven't had an Asus or Gigabyte Intel board die on me before I've upgraded it. As a matter of fact, I still have a functioning P4P800 board (with a super-ultra-fast single core hyper-threaded 2.8GHz Prescott P4 Ha!) that's clipping along just fine as a file server after almost 10 years. My Gigabyte AMD builds have usually lasted around 4 years before the USB and other on-board controllers start to go.
