Hello there lovely folks at Tom's Hardware!

Judging from the various videos hosting JJ from ASUS (by Teksyndicate, Asusrog, etc) the 4-Way Optimization in the AI Suite III should be included on all Z87 motherboards.
The ASUS site with the Z87-A specifications does however not list this, while the specification pages for the higher-end board do (such as the Z87-Deluxe) list this.

Has anyone had any experience with the Z87-A or other Z87 motherboards from ASUS?

Thank you all in advance!

Thank you for your answer!

Even though it might seem gimmicky, it still provides a nice feature that I'd be happy to know if I had available. I have already bought my ASUS Z87-A before thinking of this, and it's on its way now. I'm not considering returning it and buying another motherboard, but as I said, would be nice to know if I had the feature.

The Z87-A seems to have both AI Suite III and all the required tools used in 4-Way Optimization, but it's not labelled as included on the site.
The Z87-PRO, on the other hand, is labelled on the site to include the 4-Way Optimization, so would surprise me if it didn't. I am wondering if those that don't have it labelled on the site include it, as the labelling might just be a marketing ploy to sell the more expensive motherboards.

Hi,

I too purchased the Asus Z87-A with the misunderstanding the Bios and Ai Suite III were the same as the rest of the Asus Z-87 family=> so that 4-Way Optimization would work.

I was an early adopter - June 23, 2013. Even the Asus Site had nothing on these Boards then; but their Rep had a You Tube Video where he said the whole family has the same Overclocking ability. (And I wanted to try O/C just for grins.) I was going to wait until Black Friday to build a new Box (My main Rig was 5 years old and I wanted to upgrade) but in a fit of madness I just decided to go for it after NCIX had a good introductory price on the Z87-A and the Intel i7 4770K CPU. I listened to the salesmen at their local store who said it was only extra bling (more SATA Ports, LAN connections, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) that were added as you go up the line, and O/C was the same on all of them. They even put some Boxes (A, C, K, & Pro) out on the counter to help compare them.

The Ai Suite III User Interface is different on the Z87-A and it's not as simple a scenario to O/C as in the Videos. I'm quite disappointed there was no manual for Ai Suite III as all the info on the Web seems to be about the Z87-Pro in regards to this feature.

I have manually tweaked things in Ai Suite III, and my last test was at 4.6 GHz (all 4 cores - 8 threads - 100% CPU Load - using a Cooler Master Seidon 240M water cooling system on the CPU). The Auto System Level Up (Ratio Only enabled - Fast Tune) will get it to 4.3 GHz with the stock Intel Fan. (It went from 3.5 GHz to 4.3 GHz in one step!) Sadly, when I try the Extreme Tune now it just fails.:??:

I'll probably reset the CMOS (or the Memory OK button) and try again in case something in Bios is handing it up.

Other than this one glitch the Z87-A has been great. ;)
