Hi All -
My system has faithfully been running for over three years but the other day, stopped booting.

Current Status

Immediately upon plugging the power cord into the PSU, the motherboard is showing a Red LED.

Pushing either the motherboard power button or the case power button causes the fans to begin turning and LEDs to light up but then power is immediately killed.

At this point the PSU shows a Red LED next to the PSU power switch and any further attempts to push a power button do nothing to the system fans or LEDs.

Troubleshooting so far

I've tried clearing the CMOS, have done this while removing the PSU power cord but have not tried removing the motherboard battery.

Attempted to start system with 1 stick of memory, testing two different sticks after the first failed attempt.

My first thought is that it's the motherboard but was hoping to get some ideas on how to verify this before I go ahead and purchase another board. I have no additional components (mobo, psu, cpu, ram, etc.) to test the system with.

Any thoughts on how I can verify the busted component?

Thanks,
J

What is the model of your PSU? I need more info than "Cooler Master 550W PSU".
