More about : ps4 similar rig

It has a custom chip, DDR5 ram, specialized GPU, and a streamlined OS. You won't get something similiar, and really, why are you trying to build a PC similiar to console. What does that accomplish?

35fps... you can do it for the same budget. or boost to 60 + for an extra $100

You can actually buy a dual core Jaguar chip, but it is designed as an enterprise server.

An "equivalent" system could be built around an A10-6800k with the fastest DDR3 available. This would get you an "equivalent" onboard video but a much higher clocked processor. You really can't duplicate a system like the PS4.

Though to build a machine that can do PC Gaming there are much wiser choices.

If the ultimate purpose behind this question is to find out if you can build a $400 PC that will outperform a PS4, the simple answer is you cant.

For a rig thats equivalent to a PS4 in raw hardware, you would be looking at an A10 APU or Core i3 processor paired with a HD7850 and 8GB of RAM.

I recently built 2 months ago a $550 PC that surpassed the graphics power of the upcoming PS4 by about 50%. So yes, it can be done now for probably about $450-500.

Wow, you have a time machine and can benchmark a system you built two months ago against a system that isn't out for another 5 months. Can I borrow your time machine, I need some lottery numbers.......

I know your trying to be funny or something close to that, but just...no.

Sony stated how powerful their PS4 will be. The graphics card has around 1.8 TFlops of graphical power. The CPU side of its APU is much less powerful. Since the new consoles use the same architecture as modern PCs, the Flop count comparison is much more reliable than it was before. I was able to build a PC with more total RAM, a better processor and GPU (based on Sony's released compute specs), and more storage. I will say though that my $550 PC build from about 2 months ago did not include a copy of an OS in the price. But most people already have another PC with an OS they should be able to transfer over.

^ Provided they want to run an invalid copy of Windows.

  Same architecture.
There arent that many Jaguar chips out there son, and none on the mainstream desktop. The PS4/Xbone have similar architectures to whats available on PC's and use the same x86 instruction set. They are not directly comparable with PC's, but a lot moreso than the previous consoles.

Also, think about what you have said. Your saying that for $150 you can get 150% the performance of a PS4 on a PC? In that case Sony have messed up pretty badly. They are making a dedicated gaming device, while a PC is a device that can game. If they could pack in so much more performance for that little (and that price is what your paying for, Sony has the buying power to reduce that) then they would have done so.

Anyway, I call bullshit until you give a specs list which will tell us your rigs real value. Because I'v had people on these forums before say that they can get gaming PC that will max out everything at 1440p for $1000, but then say they got their 3930k's and Tri-7970's from a friend for $500.
