I was seeing the general information of i5 and saw that it is compactible with DDR3-1066, DDR3-1333,which has confused me,as I have ddr 2 processor of intel.Please answer me as quick as you can.Maybe this is very easy question for you,but I am rookie in this things.
will intel i5 work on ddr2 motherboard?

Which motherboard do you have and you sure it is the same socket? All the Core i series are DDR3 only IIRC. What processor do you have now?

the sockets that support the i5, I believe are all standard DDR3 mobos, if running DDR2 you prob have an older AMD CPU or an Intel prob on the 775 socket

Yes and it depends on the i5 - i.e. the 4670K takes the 1150 socket, others (2500K, 3570K) take the 1155 socket - check the CPU you have in mind for what socket it runs in

They mean that NO i5 chips have ever been made for LGA 775. They had LGA 1156 1155 1150 ect, but never 775
The i5 cpus also have a built in memory controller so they will only take DDR3. The best you can get is a core2 quad for LGA 775.

If you want to run an i5, you will need to tell us what I5 it is because they have had multiple sockets. For example, I have and older lga 1156 i5 750 in my media center. It needs a board that is LGA 1156, while a i5 2500 would need an LGA 1155 board to work(they do not even fit in the wrong boards.)
If you tell us what cpu you have or want to use, we may be able to fine a board. You WILL need to move to DDR3 for the i5 cpus.

It is important to know that a video may cover 2 of the 4 sata ports(this could be an issue for sure.) You only get 2 ram slots(may not even be an issue). Even the first versions of that board FULLY support your cpu.
For a bit more you can get this
Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2H - Rs. 3438
Better sata port placement and 4 memory slots. This board should also have no issues with your cpu.
Either way, remember to pick up some new DDR3 memory.
