What should I do? 12gb vs 8gb

Hello guys.

I have 2 4gb Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer at the specs below

DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Timing 8-8-8-24
Cas Latency 8
Voltage 1.5V

I also have 2 2gb corsair XMS3. I am not 100% on the specs, but I think they are as follows.

DDR3 1600
Timing 9-9-9-24
Voltage 1.6

I have them all in adding up to 12gb. I have them at 1600Mhz, 1.5v, and at 9-9-9-24. I use my system mainly for gaming and video editing. So the real question is should I run 8gb at a higher frequency/lower timing or go with what I have(12gb,1600,9-9-9-24) now?

Any thoughts/opinions will be appreciated.

Solution
For games and regular video editing (not heavy editing), 8GB is more than enough but it does hurt to use 12GB RAM too.
Just use the 12GB RAM in CL9 now.
For the spec's:
.. Download CPU-Z, run it and click on the SPD tab at the top. This is what is stored in the ram modules (Toggle thru each modules using the puldown menue, top right). The Memory tab shows what they are currently running at.
.. If the voltage for the corsair modules is 1.6 V for 1600 CL 9, they may not be totally stable at lower voltage (1.5V).
.. Recommend that you run Prime 95 for approx. 4 Hours - MONITOR your temps for the first 30 mins (ie monitor for 5 mins, then if look ok check at 5 mins intervals for 15 mins, then if still ok recheck at 20 and 30 min time points. - reason is that prime 95 is very cpu intensive, normally the temps will start to level out after 10-> 15 minutes.

.. If Prime 95 shows you are stable, keep the 12 gig configuration - May not gain performance, but can not hurt.
.. If fail, then drop back to the two x 4 and run at speed/timings/voltage found in CPU-z.
