Hello everyone!

This is my second post on here since I built my new PC, I'll get down to business. Ok so the problem is with the Windows 7 feature Aero Peek. I really enjoy this feature and I like how it looks when alt-tabbing in Win7 as opposed to Win XP. the Main problem lies with playing League of Legends. Now for some reason up until about 3 days ago, I could alt-tab perfectly fine while playing in "Borderless" mode with no window in the background; simply alt-tabbing to the desktop. But recently, with no warning or anything, my client is not allowing me to alt-tab to the desktop. I have even noticed that the alt-tab box reverted back to looking like it did in Win XP. I have been told that I'm having this issue because when in game my pc automatically shuts off aero peek to improve performance. The only issue I have with this is, my PC can run games like LoL and DotA2 perfectly fine on max settings. The only thing I can think of that I've installed lately is Dead Island which I purchased off of Steam. This really baffles me because I've searched all over for an answer and just can't seem to find one.

If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it, Thanks!

Hi Kblosser,

sounds to me like your problem is stemming from windows disabling the aero theme whilst running the game. This happens on even the most powerful pc's and is a nuisance rather than a help. I would recommend forcing it to be on by looking at the answer to this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/windows-7-automatically-switching-to-basic-non/7f4917ff-135d-40e4-866b-ac760642763f

Hope that helps

Thank you for your answer liquid, unfortunately I've tried both of those fixes and the problem still remains :( I even check the visual settings when in the game, and I still see that "Enable Aero Peek" is actually still checked, yet the I see differently? It's not giving me any indication that the computer is disabling that feature by itself, yet it is. I'm just very confused by this. Thanks again!

Oki doki, sorry I misunderstood the problem. It looks like this post http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/get-more-from-windows-7-alttab-app-switching-tricks-you-didnt-know-about/ has some info about what you're trying to do. Can you check the see if the mentioned registry key has been created for you, and delete it if it has? Also try the left alt + right alt, release right alt, press tab combination as described in the article to see if you can get the aero peak tab menu to appear.

Also have you tried to use Windows key+Alt to go to the desktop from your game?

Hey Liquid, again thank you for the reply.

I never created the registry key to disable the aero peek feature in the first place. Also I have tried left + right alt combo and it still doesn't work :/ That article is mainly focused on switching from the new alt-tab to the XP one, I need the exact opposite. This is driving me up a wall :(

Well, it looks like this is a classic case of windows being windows. What I meant in my last post was check to see if something else has made that registry key and remove it if it has, other than that I don't know of any way to force the alt tab to go back to what it should be.

How about trying some other key combo's for your game? Ctrl+D (minimize all), Alt+esc (move to next window), Ctrl+esc (show start menu) and WinKey+Tab (3D nav windows) are variations that may also minimize the game, give them all a go. If all else fails a classic ctrl+alt+del -> task manager -> Applications -> switch to should work.
