So lately my computer has been locking up the screen will just freeze for like 25 seconds and then the PC will either just restart or unfreeze and continue. This doesn't happen in games that I have witnessed so far, but seems to happen when I am browsing the net.

-My temps are fine CPU runs at about 40C and GPU at about 39C.
-I just did a full reinstall of Windows as I had this problem before so I thought that might fix it.
-I am however using the same drivers and Firefox settings as before.
-I have tried using a different mouse to no avail.

My system specs are

OS: Windows 7 64-bit SP 1
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 975 Processor (4 CPU's), ~3.6GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
MB: Asus M5 A78L-M USB 3
Bios Version:BIOS Date: 08/11/11 09:12:01 Ver: 04.11
Nvidia Driver Version: 320.49

Got a windows crash report:
Problem signature:

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 2057

Additional information about the problem:

You can check the Minidump file that should be in like C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Temp. Then post it.

But most like that is driver problem for hardware like MB, RAM, GPU, etc. And from what I see 1) GPU: you have the 320 version that is fine. 2) your MB has the old version BIOS (0411 version), you should get the newer one V.1503 from here. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/#support_Download_30 3) Also you should download the AMD shipset driver for motherboards with 700 series. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/raid_windows.aspx.

If you update those drivers and BIOS you still have problem, then test the memory by Memtest86 v4.0: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/gr/memtest86.htm

-Updated everything listed problem still persists.
-Ran Memtest no errors.

Not sure if this helps but sometimes after it freezes my cursor is huge like it is from a different resolution and the colours are like 8 bit just for the cursor.

Once or twice I have had a popup in the bottom right saying my display driver stopped functioning but has been restored.

Locking might actually be some sort of cable issue, are you using any mollex extension cables? Using extension cables are okay but if you are mixing the v/a of devices on the same cable line to the PSU, the power is irregular, and each device would be fighting for control of the power output. Using the same devices with same v/a, there is no issue.

For example, you may be using a mollex adapter extension for a fan that then connects to the hdd or the video card with an internal fan.

About the net, when browsing, how many tabs do you open, how often do you close them, and do you have any background apps happening like a media player (music), and whatever else?

As a test, go open 15 tabbed windows in internet Firefox browser, then close each of them leaving only one windows open in the internet browser then open Task Manager and see if there are still 15 instances of tabbed internet windows still in processes. It happens with Internet Explorer but am unsure about Firefox. The only way to clear the processes is to close the ie browser. Too many processes just bogs down the cpu.

I forgot to mention, you do need a PSU for your PC to actually work so what is it?

My PSU is OCZ OCZ600MXSP-UK ModXStream Pro 600W ATX Power Supply
I have had this PC with the exact same hardware setup for a year and a half running fine and I don't think i have any mollex extensions.

I usually have around 13 tabs open.

Well, what you need to do is when you finish with a window tab, you close it but not open any other until you are finished with all of them then close the entire browser, wait amoment then start another borwser session. Doing this way will end the browser sessions.

Having 13 tabs or more opened might be with youtube which will take a lot of processing resources as will a media player like RealPlayer and other tabs might be games or things with flash media.

Go open your 13 plus tabbed windows then switch to Taaks Manager and see how many instances of porcesses are being used with Firefox.
